Aftermath of Xynthia Flooding

Residents of the areas of the Vendee affected by flooding, around l,aiguillon sur mer and La Roche Sur Yon have won the right to have the destruction or not of their houses reviewed on a case by case basis. The state had decided that 1,500 houses would be destroyed, with the floodzone area basically being declared uninhabitable.

Garonne Communities Concerned about future Flood Risks

Communities around the Tarn river which comes from the Pyrenees down to the Mediterranean are concerned about future possible flood risks. This map identifies possible areas. The Tarn river is notorious for rising very quickly when it is flooding. Toulouse itself has flood barriers or levees but in fact there has even been some concerns about these.
